There are several different types of dosing unit. For example some are designed for chlorination and de-chlorination.

Generally this type of unit enables up to 1m3 per minute or 60m3 per hour to be chlorinated at speeds of 10-100 ppm.

An integral ball valve controls flow through the unit which is monitored using a digital flow sensor and display.

Within medium to large storage tanks, reservoirs and district metred areas (DMA’s) the trailer can be used to raise chlorine levels.

These types of machine can generally be used to dose most chemicals used within the water industry.

A Modular 308 model is hydraulically driven by the water it is dosing. They can be installed and operated by one person. They do not use electricity or electronics and are very low maintenance whilst being highly reliable.

These machines are flow proportional which means that dosing remains consistent even if the pressure or flow does not.

It can be used with most chemicals that are utilised within the water industry. This model can chlorinate up to 8000 lph at 14-140 ppm when using 14% concentrate.

Other dosing units are designed to be used in sewers. They allow for effective sewage disposal whilst maintaining low liquid flow rates. As people become more concerned with saving water many new buildings and renovations are installing water saving devices such as low flow shower heads and low flush toilets.

This can cause problems as waste water flow decreases and waste solids are not carried completely to the main sewage pipes which can cause blockages.

Sewage Dosing Units make using low flush toilets and other water saving devices much more effective. Tests have shown that this type of unit allows for the use of low flush toilets and can use as little as 0.8L of water to push waste more than 25m along a typical waste water drainpipe.

Tests have shown that a 3 litre water saving toilet can push solids is about 10 metres after ten flushes. Adding a Sewage Dosing Unit increased this distance to about 20 m on the first flush and further than 25 m with the second flush.

Another advantage of the Sewage Dosing Unit is that it can use more than just toilet waste water to clear the drains. This keeps drains clear and helps prevent blockages.

Sewage dosing units are becoming much more popular as more and more green plumbers realise that they work particularly efficiently and are also helpful in terms of conserving water and having less impact on the environment.
